GDC 2019 Report

As all we know, the Game Developers Conference (GDC) is the world's largest professional game industry event, and it brings together so many attendees to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry with five days of education, inspiration and networking at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

It's my first time to attend GDC, and I feel so honor to be chosen to represent Ringling there. People are so crowded here from all over the world, and so many professional workers are willing to answer any questions from everyone. Moreover, there are so many new technique and technology, for example, now we have a playground for creating and augmenting entire libraries of materials with ease in Substance Designer, it advances the art of making and managing 3D materials through instinctive simplicity. Users can also access materials in several ways, including downloading materials directly from Substance Source, find materials offered up by the Substance community or even upload real-world photographs. From there, we can quickly elaborate on our own libraries of materials.

Overall, It broadens my mind, and I feel like I have a better understanding of what's going on in the game industry. As a junior game art student, I think that it's a really good practice and experience for me because I know what I should prepare for next year, and I know which part I should pay more attention.
